Murat Theatre at Old National Centre 502 N. New Jersey St. All roads lead to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS)! Next stop on the I-70 GodSmack Tour from WBC to DC: Murat Theatre at Old National Centre where the bands 30 Seconds to Mars and Neon Trees teach the boys and the girls to be proud whores. Both home-grown Doomed american rock bands; one from California, the other from Utah. God has given them wealth and the power to influence this generation through music. They will not give the Glory to God, but take it to themselves! (Isa 42:8 - I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another.) Instead of using this God-given platform to teach obedience, they teach rebellion! They know if they tell their fans to stop fornicating what’s left of their drug-eaten-brains out, the seats would be empty and the gigs would dry up. Like that profane person, Esau, they have sold their soul! (Mt 16:26 - For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?) God will require each of you to give an account very soon now! America’s Destruction is Imminent, and that makes WBC Rejoice and sing Hallelujahs!
I’d like to know where all the motherfucking stereotypes for the characters came from in the Inception fanfic community. The fanfic community hasn’t even been around 2 months yet, guys.
It’s fucking irritating.
First, I’ll admit that I’m guilty of still reading the fics out there that have them. I mean, if the stereotype isn’t used as a crutch for the story and the plot’s good, why not? But to see it in 9 out of 10 things I read is quite honestly pathetic.
Also, I do also occasionally take one small detail of these seemingly endless stereotypes and use them, but I also will make the character my own, yet still believable based on what we all know.
Now, what irritates me the most?
Eames: Always with the pet names! STOP IT, PEOPLE. If your one-shot has more than six pet names coming from his mouth; if your multi-chapter fic has more than four each chapter, then you need to knock it off. You’re over-doing it. He only said “darling” ONCE the entire movie.
Also, him being a womanizer and always drinking. What even? In the movie, he’s introduced during a scene of gambling, but that isn’t linked with the seemingly endless fucking and drinking he seems to be doing in fics.
Ariadne: The girl’s in her twenties. Stop pretending like she’s an innocent 16 year old and inexperienced. As the writer, it is up to you to decide her background based off of what we know, but the fact you have her as this whimpering virgin is pathetic.
Also, she’s smart. But also young. You all need to try and find a decent balance there.
One more thing, back to sex: Totally sick of the fics where Eames is “teaching” her how to have sex, etc. STOP IT. I’ve only read ONE good one of all the ones I’ve seen.
Cobb: ALWAYS BEING FUCKING DEPRESSED AND PINING OVER MAL. Yeah, she was his wife, his lover, but you know what? We’re constantly told that he wanted to live for his children in the movie. So pretty sure he’s not drowning in angst all the time. Give the guy a break and give him some happy moments.
Yusuf: Why am I bothering to make a point for him? YOU ALL IGNORE HIM. I think I’m the only one who’s bothered to give him a background and a decent place in my story. A few others have made him sound like a total idiot. The man is a chemist. He’s smart. Just because he’s a secondary character doesn’t mean you have to belittle his character like that.
Also, I’m sick of the cliches of the “quick, give me a kiss” & “it was worth a shot” lines. And “half-remembered dream.” But not as much as the first two. Plus, I’ve used the last one once.
Another thing: Can we PLEASE start getting more stories with substance and ones that aren’t just fluff or smut? Now, I’m totally guilty of writing these kinds of stories. But you know what? At the same time, I’m posting serious writing. Angsty, mysterious things that are like actual novels or movies. Not just happily-ever-afters.
In terms of ships, I still read most of them. Can’t really get into Cobb/Ariadne ones…. But there are a million Arthur/Ariadne and Arthur/Eames stories. People, start pairing the not so obvious together! Eames/Ariadne are rare, as are Fischer/Ariadne. Arthur/Mal, Eames/Mal, etc. Variety is the spice of life, guys!
I’m sure I’ve got more to bitch about over all of this, but it’s late. And I really just needed to get it all out.
